MiriamDema.com is the creative vision of Miriam Dema McDaniel. She works primarily in printmaking with a focus of screen printing on found and altered surfaces. She also paints and draws in a variety of mediums. The process of assembling, drawing and photographing results in a diverse group of work encompassing limited edition screen prints, drawings, paintings, site-specific sculptural installations, photography and short film.

A Northern Californian at heart Miriam Dema was raised in a creative family where she remembers her earliest toys being an old marble collection, small wooden toys and her grandmother’s very elaborate dress-up trunk. Her memories are filled with images of treasure buried in forgotten boxes and in long neglected books.

Miriam Dema went to college in Washington D.C. at The Corcoran College of Art and Design. After graduating from college in 2001 she returned to Northern California. She maintained a busy studio at the Dutch Boy Studios in East Oakland for 5 years. While living in Oakland she was instrumental in organizing several group shows and open studios.

2006 brought Miriam Dema to the Los Angeles area with her studio in tow, soon to set up shop in the woods above Los Angeles. She does all of her screen printing from start to finish herself, including graphic work, exposing screens and printing. Miriam Dema spends her days running two busy businesses while trying not to get distracted by the wildlife just outside her studio door.
